Freshers With New Age Skills Earn upto 6.5 lakh PA

In recent news, tech giant Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has announced the starting salary of about 6.5 lakh per annum for freshers with new-age digital skills compared to the rest who can be stuck with a lesser package. Generally, the entry-level salary of an Indian engineer in the IT industry is estimated to be around 3.5 lakh per annum for the past decade. This new development almost doubles the pay of a fresher with much-needed skills.

Workforce automation has lead to the emergence of new in-demand skills; needless to say, individuals who possess these skills to have a competitive edge over others. And TCS accepting the fact is only the start of the game.

A youngster who has just started out and has learnt R, a popular programming language used for statistical computing to derive insights from data, gets an average salary of Rs 8 lakh a year.

This highlights how besides increasing the learning budgets to upskill and reskill the employees for the emerging digital skills, enterprises are now also going lengths to hire talent. Employees with skills in the fields of machine learning, artificial intelligence (AI) and data analysis are even getting better appraisals across levels. Such specialists are rare and in much demand.
